Roughly 30 years later, in 1996, Jerry did purchase his very own Mustang Cobra. Rain fails to dampen success
of Kumquat Festival
Rain caused the 13th annual Kumquat Festival to close an hour early on Saturday, but failed to dampen the success of the event, said Nita Beckwith, executive director of the Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber organizes the event. Pasco Regional Medical Center was the largest sponsor for this year’s festival.
National recording artist Michael Ray performed from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. This is the first time the festival has drawn a national artist. Ray was scheduled to perform from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. but the festival was stopped an hour early due to inclement weather, Beckwith said...

Stewart Basketball Teams
split with Centennial
In front of a roaring crowd of the Stewart Middle School student body, the SMS Bulldogs eighth grade team fell to Centennial 40-33 in their 2010 season opener.
On a brighter note, the Stewart seventh grade team dominated the Cyclones seventh graders in their matchup, 42-16.
But it was the eighth grade team that was center stage for the in-school matchup with the Cyclones...

Checking out the scenery
at the Under Armor Senior Bowl
Not that I’m much of an advocate for skipping school, but last week I missed two days for a trek to Alabama. That was probably the wisest decision of my entire life. Not that I don’t harbor the utmost fervor for good ole ZHS, but a little change of scenery has never hurt anyone before.
My nana and I had been planning on going to Mobile, AL to attend the Under Armor Senior Bowl for the last few months. Her brother lives there and this game was the perfect excuse for us to pay him and his wife a visit. Let me be perfectly clear that this is not a competition amongst the elderly. A great deal of my friends just assumed that and nodded, smiling as if I was some kind of nut whenever I told them my destination. No, this is a football game between the best seniors in college football. Of course, we just went to support the University of Florida boys, Tim Tebow and Riley Cooper. You see what I mean when I say scenery...
